The invention comprises a device and method for impacting the behavior of invertebrates that infest wood, without the use of chemicals. In particular, the invention is useful for impacting the behavior of woodboring invertebrates, which infest wood products, lumber and the woody portions of plants and trees. The invention utilizes acoustic (sonic) agents which may be optionally modulated with specific signals, to cause negative effects on the normal behaviors exhibited by wood-infesting invertebrates, which may result in the invertebrates being injured or killed, unable to reproduce, or caused to flee the wood that the invertebrates are infesting.Cette invention concerne un dispositif et un procédé agissant sur le comportement des invertébrés infestant le bois, sans recourir aux produits chimiques. Linvention est, en particulier, utilisée pour agir sur le comportement des invertébrés xylophages, qui infestent les produits ligneux, le bois débité et les parties ligneuses des plantes et des arbres. Linvention utilise des agents acoustiques (soniques) pouvant éventuellement être modulés par des signaux spécifiques, pour provoquer des effets négatifs sur le comportement normal des invertébrés infestant le bois, cela pouvant entraîner des lésions chez lesdits invertébrés ou leur élimination, leur incapacité à se reproduire ou la contrainte pour eux de quitter le bois infesté.
