The present invention relates to novel isoxazole compounds of formula (I), and pharmaceutically acceptable salts, solvates, hydrates, geometrical isomers, tautomers, optical isomers or N-oxides thereof, which are modulators of 11beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11beta-HSD1). The invention also relates to pharmaceutical compositions comprising these compounds and to the use of these compounds in the preparation of a medicament for the treatment of glaucoma.
