PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for evaluating immediate effectivity of a deodorizer and a novel method for evaluating deodorizing speed.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for evaluating a deodorizing substance, that uses an ion molecular reaction type mass analyzer. The method includes the steps of: (a) generating a headspace gas by bringing an odorous material into contact with or making it react with an evaluation object deodorizer under a dynamic headspace method (b) continuously introducing the gas generated in the previous step into an ionizing chamber of the mass analyzer and ionizing the gas by applying a chemical ionization method (c) mass separating ion molecules of the odorous material from ion molecules of a sample by using a separator of the mass analyzer (d) counting a number of the ion molecules of the odorous material by using a detector of the mass analyzer and (e) calculating a half-life time of the odorous material by processing fluctuation data of the number of ion molecules of the odorous material.
