PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and accurate method of screening for a prophylactic or therapeutic agent for nephrotic syndrome, a novel pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating nephrotic syndrome, and a novel diagnostic marker for nephrotic syndrome.SOLUTION: A method of the present invention for screening for a prophylactic or therapeutic agent for nephrotic syndrome comprises: a step 1 for adding pharmaceutical candidate substances to cells expressing a synaptic vesicle-associated molecule a step 2 for measuring expression levels of the synaptic vesicle-associated molecule and a step 3 for selecting a substance that increases the expression level. A pharmaceutical composition of the present invention for preventing or treating nephrotic syndrome contains a synaptic vesicle-associated molecule expression promoting substance or synaptic vesicle-associated molecular function promoting substance as an active ingredient.
