Feedback systems and methods communicate implanted sensor-based feedbacksignals to promote behavior modi-ficationsthat ameliorate obesity and other eating disorders. The system and methodsdescribed may also be applicable to any treat-mentin which presenting feedback regarding patients' eating and exercise habits isdesired. The present invention provides amethod and system for treating a patient by collecting ingestion and exerciseinformation about the patient from an implanted sen-sorand communicating the collected information to the patient, his or herphysician and/or other health care providers. In someembodiments, stimulation of the patient's stomach is also provided to reducecaloric intake. In some embodiments, the collecteddata is transmitted to a central server. Further embodiments may provideaccess to additional information in conjunction with thecollected patient information, such as a calorie database, an exerciseplanner, and so forth, with the data optionally being usedwithin a social networking system.
