To provide a more light-weight assist device without interfering with a motion of arms in lifting and lowering operations of a target person.SOLUTION: An assist device 1B includes a body-worn tool 2B mounted at least around the waist of a target person, thigh units 4BR and 4BL mounted on the body-worn tool 2B and the thigh of the object person, and a torque generation unit including an actuator that generates assist torque. A control box (37B) is disposed above the waist of the target person in the body-worn tool. The control box accommodates the torque generation unit and control means for controlling the torque generation unit. A power transmission unit (71R, 32BR, 72R, 73R, and 74R) is provided for transmitting the assist torque generated in the control box to the thigh units.
