The present invention is directed to orally administered compositions oftopically acting corticosteroidsfor the treatment of inflammation of the gastrointestinal tracts such aseosinophilic esophagitis. Thepresent invention also provides a method for treating conditions associatedwith inflammation of thegastrointestinal tract in an individual. The method comprises administering toan individual in needthereof a pharmaceutical composition of the present invention as orallydisintegrating tablets comprising atopically active corticosteroid adsorbed onto a pharmaceutically acceptablecarrier such as silicifiedmicrocrystalline cellulose.
