PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article which improves absorption efficiency and makes it difficult for reversion to occur without deteriorating the soft touch feeling of cotton, and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: A surface sheet is a heat-sealing layer made of a cellulosic fiber arranged on the skin side and a heat-sealing fiber of long fibers arranged on the non-skin side. It has a multi-layer structure including 11 and a second sheet 6 made of heat-sealing fibers is disposed on the non-skin side of the surface sheet, and the second sheet 6 and the surface sheet 3 are integrated on the non-skin side surface of the second sheet 6. A large number of squeezed portions 15 that are recessed toward the skin side are formed. The fibers of the non-heat-sealing layer 10 and the heat-sealing layer 11 are entangled and joined to each other. The second sheet 6 is formed with a basis weight and a lower density than the heat fusion layer 11. The squeezed portion 15 is formed to include an intermittent pattern or a linear pattern.
