An inter- level locking mechanism of a multi- level medical device is disclosed. The locking mechanism includes (a) an elongated element ( 100 ) having a plurality of flexing regions, wherein the elongated element assumes a straightened configuration for introduction into the body, and wherein the elongated element assumes a closed helix configuration with a first portion of the elongated element coming in overlapping contact with a second portion of the elongated element in the closed helix configuration, and (b) at least one locking element deployable so as to interconnect the first and second portions of the elongated element so as to tighten together the overlapping portions of the elongated element, thereby stabilizing the closed helix configuration.La présente invention concerne un mécanisme de blocage entre les niveaux dun dispositif médical multi-niveau. Ledit mécanisme de blocage comprend les éléments suivants : (a) un élément allongé (100) doté dune pluralité de régions de flexion, ledit élément allongé adoptant une configuration droite pour son introduction dans le corps, et ce même élément allongé adoptant une configuration en hélice fermée, une première partie de lélément allongé venant en contact avec, et chevauchant, une seconde partie dudit élément allongé dans la configuration en hélice fermée et (b) au moins un élément de blocage pouvant être déployé de manière à relier les première et seconde parties de lélément allongé, afin de resserrer ensemble les parties se chevauchant de lélément allongé, pour ainsi stabiliser la configuration en hélice fermée.
