The present invention relates to use of an extract of Gynostemma pentaphyllum or gypenoside for treating, preventing or alleviating a memory disorder in Parkinson&primes disease. According to the present invention, the extract of Gynostemma pentaphyllum or gypenoside is effective for treating, preventing or improving a memory disorder which may occur due to the progress of Parkinson&primes disease or L-DOPA drug treatment. According to the present invention, the extract of Gynostemma pentaphyllum or gypenoside reduces increased activity of the NDMDA receptor (NMDAR) at the hippocampus site, which is a site playing an important role with reference to memory power in the brain of a patient suffering from Parkinson&primes disease, increases the decreased activity of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) 1/2 and cyclic AMP-response element binding protein (CREB), thereby showing an effect of improving memory power. Since the extract of Gynostemma pentaphyllum or gypenoside is derived from a naturally occurring material, it causes little side effect upon the application to the human body, unlike the chemically synthesized compounds.COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017본 발명은 돌외 추출물 또는 지페노시드의 파킨슨병의 기억력 장애의 치료, 예방 또는 개선 용도에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 돌외 추출물 또는 지페노시드는 파킨슨병의 진행 또는 L-DOPA 약물 치료에 의해 나타날 수 있는 기억력 장애의 치료, 예방 또는 개선 효과가 있다. 본 발명의 돌외 추출물 또는 지페노시드는 파킨슨 병 환자의 뇌에서 기억력과 관련되어 중요한 역할을 하는 부위인 해마 부위의 NMDA 수용체(NMDAR)의 증가된 활성을 감소시키고, ERK(extracellular signal-regulated kinase) 1/2 및 CREB(cyclic AMP-response element binding protein)의 감소된 활성을 증가시킴으로써, 기억력 개선 효과를 나타낸다. 본 발명의 돌외 추출물 또는 지페노시드는 천연물로부터 유래되었으므로 화학적으로 합성된 화합물과는 다르게 인체 적용시 부작용이 적다.
