PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water retention mat capable of efficiently absorbing natural rain, keeping the water for a long period and supplying the water necessary for the survival of green vegetables through a greening base and provide a greening method using the water retention mat. SOLUTION: The water retention mat is produced by finely crushing wood chips, mixing with cotton or natural paste and forming with a press to form an elastic plate mat.
