PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make possible, even if the apparatus is configured inexpensively, simultaneous pickup of a visible image and an image for use in the calculation of plant growth indicators and prevent the user from wrongly recognizing trouble with the pickup apparatus itself or the growth situation of plants, whose images are to be picked up.SOLUTION: A prism 21 of a monitoring camera 10 spectrally disperses light coming incident from a plant through an incidence face 21w and emits the dispersed light from multiple emitting faces 21z, 21y and 21x. A color image sensor 22c receives light emitted from the emitting face 21y via an infrared cut filter 23c, and picks up visible images of a plant. The IR image sensor 22i and the image sensor 22r receive light rays emitted from the emitting faces 21z and 21x via the IR filter 23i and the R filter 23r, respectively, and pick up IR images and R images for use in the calculation of NDVI, an indicator for observing growth states of plants.
