To provide an imaging device for capturing infrared images capable of accurately counting, even by computer, etc., "minute particles that have not been finely pulverized or mashed" by irradiating infrared light during image capture on to an artificial food mass that is the imaging subject as well as capturing using the imaging device an image of infrared light that passes through the artificial food mass. An imaging device for capturing images of an artificial food mass, which is the imaging subject and contains light-permeable fine particles, on to a substrate with infrared light blocking properties. Said imaging device comprises an image capture means for capturing images of the imaging subject from one direction and an infrared light source that irradiates infrared light on to the imaging subject from another side of the imaging subject.
