PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article effective in preventing the leak of blood.

SOLUTION: The absorbent article includes a body fluid permeable surface sheet 2, a body fluid impermeable back sheet 3, an absorbent body 4 located between the surface sheet 2 and the back sheet 3, a pair of leakproof walls 5 provided longitudinally along both the lateral side ends of the absorbent body 4, and a leakproof groove 8 provided along both side ends of a skin contact part B of the absorbent body 4 in the pair of these leakproof walls 5. The leakproof groove 8 has a part protruding out in an arc from the lateral side ends of the skin contact part B. A compressed part 15 more rigid than a region including at least the skin contact part B of a pair of the leakproof groove 8 is provided at a region 9 between the leakproof wall 5 and the leakproof groove 8 in the absorbent body 4.
