A tool holder mechanism for cutting and/or variable distance gripping, using tools such as scissors, secateurs, gripping jaws, universal pliers, etc., coupled with a screw driving and drilling type motor (34) via a telescopic rod (28, 29) and a mechanical device comprising three manual controls for positioning the tool (8, 22, 31) and a motorized control engaging the jaws (1, 2) of the tool via mechanical driving devices such as a telescopic shaft (32, 33), a cardan transmission (36), an angle transmission (20), a gear wheel with an endless screw (18, 19) and a cam wheel (16) moving in a slot (15) in the movable arm (10) having a secondary resilient joint (11, 12) for controlling the opening and closing of the jaws. The mechanism is designed to improve working conditions particularly when the objects to be cut or gripped are hard to reach, such as in agriculture (pruning of prickly bushes, branches of trees, vines grown on arbours) or in industry (work in aggressive, hot, electrical or chemical environments).
