The present disclosure describes an orally administrable implement comprising expandable material designed specifically to swell in a targeted gastrointestinal (Gl) organ of a mammal, including human to form a pseudobezoar, so that upon swelling it touches the walls of the targeted organ. In one design, the swollen pseudobezoar provides sponge-like cleansing of the targeted Gl organ to prepare the said organ for further examination. In another design the expandable material scrapes the walls of the targeted Gl organ by creating a sufficient friction tension between its permeable wails and the mucosa of the Gl organ walls to collect enough adequate tissue samples, occult blood, or both, for the purpose of tissue sample analysis, DNA analysis, occult blood analysis, or a combination thereof. Safety mechanisms for the controlled disintegration of the pseudobezoars in cases of possible obstruction are also described.La présente invention concerne un outil administrable par voie orale comprenant une matière expansible conçue de façon spécifique pour gonfler dans un organe gastro-intestinal (Gl) ciblé dun mammifère, comprenant un être humain pour former un pseudobézoard, de telle sorte que lors dun gonflement il touche les parois de lorgane ciblé. Dans une conception, le pseudobézoard gonflé assure un nettoyage de type éponge de lorgane Gl ciblé pour préparer ledit organe pour un examen approfondi. Dans une autre conception, la matière expansible gratte les parois de lorgane Gl ciblé en créant une tension de friction suffisante entre ses parois perméables et la muqueuse des parois de lorgane Gl pour collecter assez déchantillons de tissu appropriés, du sang occulte, ou les deux, pour lobjectif dune analyse déchantillons de tissu, une analyse dADN, une analyse de sang occulte ou une combinaison de celles-ci. Linvention concerne également des mécanismes de sécurité pour la désintégration commandée des pseudobézoards dans des cas dobstruction possible.
