The bed device has a tilting drive unit which enables an upper frame to perform the tilting movement such that a difference is provided between the height positions of a head side, and the foot side, and at least the foot side becomes lower. The bed device is provided with an actuation state detection unit which detects whether a knee bottom actuation unit for raising and lowering the knee bottom is in a state capable of actuation. The tilting drive unit performs the tilting movement if the knee bottom is at an angle of 0 DEG or more relative to the ground, and the actuation state detection unit has detected that the knee bottom actuation unit is in a state capable of actuation.
