A description is given of a biopolymer-based foodcasing having an impregnation on the side facing thefood. The impregnation comprises at least onehydrophobic, synthetic, organic polymer. By means ofthe impregnation, the peelability of the casing may beadjusted corresponding to the type of the food. Thecasing is used, especially, as an artificial sausagecasing for raw sausage, scalded-emulsion sausage orcooked-meat sausage.
