Disclosed herein are methods of determining haemodynamic parametersfrom patient pressure signals. In selected embodiments the determination iscarried out only on the basis of suitable signals, so that reliablerecognition ofheartbeats can occur. The methods comprise: receiving patient pressuresignals, selecting a patient pressure signal as a reference, dividing thepatientpressure signals and the reference into segments, examining the patientpressure signal segments and the reference segments for artefacts,determining a start and end of a heart beat on one patient pressure signaland using non-discarded segments for calculating haemodynamicparameters.
