The invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising the synergic combination of a steroidal anti-inflammatory agent, such as the active principle betamethasone in the form of the pharmaceutically acceptable phosphate and dipropionate salts thereof, and a centrally acting muscle relaxant, such as the active principle methocarbamol, as well as pharmaceutically acceptable excipients, which are formulated in a single dosage unit intended for intramuscular administration. The composition, which is used to control and treat inflammatory musculoskeletal diseases accompanied by muscle contracture, provides improved therapeutic effect, faster action in less time and a reduction in the risk of side effects, such as drowsiness and inability to perform daily tasks.
