An object of this invention is to provide the pharmaceutical composition or method which can be widely applied to the muscular disease accompanied by a muscular weakness, and can increase the muscular strength or delay the progress of a muscular weakness. Another object of the present invention is to provide a pharmaceutical composition or method that can be used for the treatment or prevention of muscular dystrophy or sarcopenia as an example of a muscular disease. A further object of the present invention is to provide a composition or method that can induce differentiation into muscle cells. There is provided a therapeutic or prophylactic agent for myopathy containing parathyroid hormone (PTH) or a PTH derivative as an active ingredient. The therapeutic or preventive agent for muscular diseases can be used for the treatment or prevention of muscular dystrophy or sarcopenia.
