A device for measuring the hydraulic permeability of dentin samples containing a) a flow cell containing i) an inlet channel; ii) an outlet channel hydraulically connected to the inlet channel; and iii) at least one dentin-fixing sample mechanism that is located between the inlet and outlet channels; b) a pump mechanism for pumping fluid into the flow cell through the inlet channel, through the dentin sample, and from the flow cell through the outlet channel; c) a first flow meter in contact with a fluid pumped by a pump mechanism and calibrated to measure fluid flow in the range of about 0 to about 200 ml / min; and d) a second flow meter designed to measure the flow rate of the fluid pumped by the pump mechanism and used to confirm that the flow rate of the fluid pumped by the pump mechanism is within the range determined by the calibration range from about 0 to about 200 ml / min. 2.
