To provide a surgical system with excellent operability.SOLUTION: A surgical system includes: an instrument manipulator 21 having an instrument manipulator arm for causing a distal end to make a translation motion and a rotation motion with respect to a proximal end and a surgical instrument 28 continued from the distal end of the instrument manipulator arm； a console 7 having an operation tool for receiving an instrument operation command from a surgeon including a translation amount of the translation motion and a rotation amount of the rotation motion of the surgical instrument with respect to the surgical instrument； and a controller 3 for controlling the instrument manipulator. The controller calculates an actual translation amount by multiplying the translation amount of the surgical instrument that the operation tool receives by a predetermined translation magnification value； causes the surgical instrument to be operated in correspondence with the actual translation amount； calculates an actual rotation amount by multiplying the rotation amount of the surgical instrument that the operation tool receives by a predetermined rotation magnification value； and causes the surgical instrument to be operated in correspondence with the actual rotation amount.
