An intraoral surgical mouth prop comprising an anatomically contoured compressible outer body element 1 providing a bite block, and an integral inner element comprising a permanently attached, flexible and extensible tether 2 and tether grip 3 formed of a less compressible material. The mouth prop may be entirely manufactured from two varieties of a high performance, biocompatible, thermoplastic elastomer, each variety having a different Shore-A hardness. The mouth prop may be manufactured using over-moulding or a twin-shot, co-injection moulding technique. The mouth prop may have an aperture located within the inner element allowing for compression of the device when pressure is applied to the bite surfaces 8 and access for intraoral aspiration devices.
