PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sanitary and simple sterilization detection indicator composition producing no bad smell, which is used during sterilization processing by high pressure steam, can be simply used even during sterilization processing by ethylene oxide gas if required, and can display completion of sterilization processing by clear change of color tone, and a sterilization detection indicator to which it is surely applied.
SOLUTION: This sterilization detection indicator composition contains saccharides and monoazo dyes. In this sterilization detection indicator 1, the sterilization detection indicator composition is applied to a base material 5 or an object to be sterilized to form a discoloration layer 4.
