A catheter device having a proboscis, such as a needle (22), and a transducer which detects the axial displacement of the proboscis in relation to the distal tip or the catheter.. The transducer is positioned at a distal portion of the catheter and may comprise an induction coil (32) or a potentiometer. Axial displacement of the proboscis changes the amount of inductance or resistance in the transducer. This change in inductance or resistance can be calibrated to the amount of axial displacement of the proboscis and provided as feedback to the user.La présente invention concerne un dispositif cathéter ayant un proboscis, tel quune aiguille, et un transducteur qui détecte le déplacement axial du proboscis par rapport à la pointe distale du cathéter. Le transducteur est positionné à une partie distale du cathéter et peut comprendre une bobine dinduction ou un potentiomètre. Le déplacement axial du proboscis change la valeur de linductance ou de la résistance dans le transducteur.
