A method of treating a superficial or partial thickness burn caused by heat,or by UV or laser radiation is disclosed.The method includes topically applying a topical composition containing anavermectin compound to an affected area immediatelyafter a burn occurs. The method further includes cooling the affected areawith ice or water prior to application of the topicalcomposition. Additionally, the method includes topically applying a secondtopical composition containing fluocinonide andsalicylic acid on the affected area to further enhance anti-inflammatoryeffect of the avermectin compound on the damaged skin.
