Device for measuring variations in axial length of plant or tree stems or trunks using one or more vertical dendrometers attached to a stem or trunk to enable determination of the origin or such variations
Device for measuring variations in axial length of plant or tree stems using one or more vertical dendrometers attached to said stem. A vertical dendrometer comprises two reference points attached to vertically separated points on the stem and a path sensor for measuring the distance between the points. Use of two or more dendrometers means that the two factors that contribute to stem length alteration, water content in the plant body and bending of the stem due to wind can be separately calculated.
