PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new methods of maintaining genetic stability of non-human animal inbred strains.SOLUTION: In the methods, pedigree-tracked cryopreserved embryos derived from a foundation colony are produced and used to re-establish the foundation colony at appropriate intervals.
