The invention provides a system to dispense animal feed, in particular pulverulent animal feed such as ground calcium or other mineral feed supplements or milk powder, into a feed collecting container. The system comprises a storage for containing the animal feed, a dispensing device to dispense the animal feed from the storage into the feed collecting container, and a control unit to control the dispensing device, wherein the control unit is configured to provide an actuation signal to the dispensing device to dispense the animal feed. The system further comprises a camera to record one or more images on the basis of which actual dispensing of the animal feed can be determined.
