The control system (90) comprises a spool velocity detecting unit (68), a drag operation detecting unit (66), and a reel control unit (23) having a first control unit (64a). The spool velocity detecting unit (68) detects the rotation velocity of a spool (10). The drag operation detecting unit (66) detects the operation of a drag device (44) when a rotational load equal to or greater than an adjusted rotational load in the releasing direction of a fishing line has acted on the spool (10). If the drag operation detecting unit (66) detects the operation of the drag device (44), the first control unit (64a) controls the motor (12) so that the prescribed rotation velocity (VS) of the spool (10) being rightly determined with respect to the rotation velocity of the motor (12) becomes faster than a rotation velocity (Vd) detected from the spool velocity detecting unit (68) by a fixed difference.
