PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning area adjustment apparatus capable of easily and accurately adjusting a scanning area and accurately associating each sampling point with a display coordinate system of a monitor.SOLUTION: The scanning area adjustment apparatus for a scanning confocal endoscope system comprises: a relay lens that enlarges a scanning area of excitation light exited from an optical scanner light detection means that detects a scanning position of the excitation light exited from the relay lens a fluorescence emitter that emits fluorescence when the excitation light enters moving means that moves the relay lens and the light detection means relative to the optical scanner scanning area change means that changes the scanning area of the excitation light exited from the optical scanner and mapping means that associates the scanning position of the excitation light detected by the light detection means with a pixel of a confocal image. The relay lens is arranged such that a rear focal point substantially matches a center position of the light-receiving surface.
