PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To embody a lawn mower which is high in energy saving effect by accurately grasping the running conditions, the working state, etc. when performing a lawn mowing work while running with a running electric motor via electric power generated by a generator powered by an engine.SOLUTION: This lawn mower is constructed to be capable of transmitting the driving force of an engine to a blade shaft 14 which supports the blade 54 of a mower deck 13, via a first electromagnetic clutch C1 from the PTO shaft on the side of the vehicle body 1, and is constructed to be capable of transmitting the driving force of the engine 27 to the generator 8 via a second electromagnetic clutch C2. The lawn mower is equipped with a work state detector S which detects whether it is in a lawn mowing state in which the blade 54 mows vegetating lawn grass or in a non-work state, and a controller 72 which engages the first electromagnetic clutch C1 and disengages the second electromagnetic clutch C2 when it detects the lawn mowing state, and disengages the first electromagnetic clutch C1 and switches on the second electromagnetic clutch C2 when it detects the non-work state.【課題】エンジン駆動の発電機により発電された電力を介して走行用電動モータで走行しながら芝刈作業を行う際に、走行条件、作業状態等を的確に把握して省エネルギ効果の高い芝刈機を具現しようとする。【解決手段】モーアデッキ13のブレード54を支持するブレード軸14に車体1側のPTO軸から第1電磁クラッチC1を介してエンジン駆動力を伝動可能に構成し、前記発電機8にはエンジン27の駆動力を第2電磁クラッチC2を介して伝動可能に構成し、前記ブレード54が植生する芝草を刈り取る芝刈作業状態か、又は非作業状態かを検出する作業状態検出手段Sを備え、芝刈作業状態を検出すると、前記第1電磁クラッチC1を入とし第2電磁クラッチC2を切とし、非作業状態を検出すると、前記第1電磁クラッチC1を切とし第2電磁クラッチC2を入に切り替える制御部72を備える。【選択図】 図3
