Container system for peritoneal dialysis solutions having a first a compartment containing with PD osmotic agent and a second compartment with a PD buffer agent
Disclosed is a container system (10) for peritoneal dialysis (PD) solutions. The system includes a first compartment (12a) that contains a PD osmotic agent (14) and a second compartment (20a) that contains a PD buffer agent (22). The compartments maintain their respective contents separately from one another for purposes of transport, storage and/or sterilization. However, the compartments are fluidly couplable, so that their respective contents can be combined with one another, e.g., following sterilization of the agents and prior to their introduction into the patient's abdomen. The system has a protective structure which inhibits breaking of a seal (26) between the second compartment and an outlet of the system, prior to breaking of a seal (24) between the first and second compartments.
