The inventive polymer composition for an intraocular lens comprises at least one first type of hydrophilic (meth)acrylic monomer, at least one second type of high-refractive index monomer, a crosslinker and a copolymerisation initiator, wherein said first and second monomers jointly represent at least 90 % by weight of the entire composition, the content of said at least one type second monomer is greater than the content of said at least one type first monomer and the crosslinker is embodied in the form of a hydrophobic polymer which consists of several ethylenically unsaturated polymerisable groups and comprises the base unit number (degree of polymerisation) equal to or greater than 5.
