The present invention relates to a surplus light suppressing sub-type artificial retina apparatus and a signal generating method. More particularly, the present invention relates to a sub-type artificial retina apparatus and a signal generating method for preventing an overcurrent from being generated by surplus light entering from the surroundings when the artificial retina generates a signal by receiving light. The apparatus comprises: a light receiving unit for recognizing light and generating a current having a different magnitude according to intensity of light； a light receiving array in which a plurality of the light receiving units are aligned for each pixel； a comparison unit for checking a minimum magnitude current value among currents generated in the plurality of light receiving units； and an adjustment unit for reducing the current generated by all the light receiving units of the light receiving array by the minimum magnitude current value separately.본 발명은 잉여 광 억제 서브형 인공 망막 장치 및 신호 생성 방법에 관한 것으로서, 더욱 상세하게는 인공 망막이 빛을 받아 신호를 생성할 때 주변에서 들어오는 잉여 광들에 의해 과전류가 발생하여 사용자의 시각에 방해가 되는 것을 방지하기 위한 서브형 인공 망막 장치 및 신호 생성 방법에 관한 것으로, 빛을 인식해 빛의 세기에 따라 크기가 상이한 전류를 생성하는 광수신부, 복수의 상기 광수신부가 픽셀마다 정렬되어 있는 광수신어레이, 복수의 상기 광수신부에서 발생한 전류 중 최소 크기 전류값을 확인하는 비교부, 상기 최소 크기 전류 값만큼 상기 광수신어레이의 모든 광수신부에서 생성되는 전류에서 각각 감소시키는 조정부를 포함하는 구성을 개시한다.
