PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface sheet of an absorbent article which achieves high liquid absorption properties and liquid retaining properties for the absorbent article, prevents a liquid from remaining on a surface layer, and is soft because the surface sheet shows excellent cushioning properties and abuts on a skin softly.
SOLUTION: The surface sheet 10 of the absorbent article is made of fibers and has protruding parts 3 which keep a space 6 in the inside and are disposed in a zigzag form. Each of the protruding parts 3 has a ridge part 5 whose inside is filled with fibers in at least two directions, and the protruding parts 3 are mutually coupled at the ridge part 5.
