PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to efficiently create a grafting rootstock having a fine cut surface.SOLUTION: A cut surface 1011 on a scion 101 is V-shaped and a cut surface 1041 on a rootstock 104 is y-shaped as indicated in (b) while it is conventionally Y-shaped. In the case of the Y-shaped cut surface, a fine cut surface cannot be obtained from the bottom of the V-shaped cut surface to the vertical parts if cutting (pushing and cutting) is carried out with a cutting tool comprising three blades as a single unit therefore, if cutting is carried out by using a cutting tool with one thin blade, three processes are required. In the case of the present invention, on the contrary, two processes can be enough. For this reason, a grafting rootstock can be produced efficiently. In addition, when a scion 101 is thick, as indicated in (c), the upper part of the rootstock 104 is cleaved into two parts just to an extent equivalent to the diameter of the scion at a notch 1042 from the bottom of the V-shaped cut surface, and covers an area to the arc-shaped external edge part 1011a of the scion. Furthermore, the cut surface of a deeper notch 1044 of the y-shaped cut surface can be firmly attached without being wound up, and some sieve tubes are communicated.
