Disclosed is a dentifrice composition comprising a water insoluble and/or slightly soluble calcium source and at least0.1% by weight of an organic acid having 1 to 3 carboxylic acid groups, or its physiologically acceptable salt, or a combination thereof, wherein the dentifrice composition has a pH of greater than 6.0.The calcium source comprises a component capable of reacting with phosphate ions to produce a calcium phosphate in situ,hydroxyapatite and/or amorphous calcium phosphate having a weight average particle size of 5 microns or less, or a combination thereof.
