PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character printer and a tablet printing mechanism which flexibly cope with various attachment structures, facilitate a cleaning operation, and are capable of sufficiently reducing risk of ink dripping.SOLUTION: A tablet printing mechanism includes a plurality of tablet transport rollers and a head cassette 3 to perform printing on a surface of a tablet to be transported. The head cassette 3 includes a body 6 and an ink tank 7 accommodating ink therein. An inkjet head 8 to perform printing on the tablet is disposed at a front end part of the body 6.
