PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism to reduce a feeling of discomfort that overflowed matching liquid gives to a person to be examined in an acoustic wave reception device for receiving an acoustic wave.SOLUTION: An acoustic wave reception device includes: a support base 108 having a support part 108a for supporting a person to be examined, which is provided with an insertion port through which a subject, which is a part of the person to be examined, can be inserted a holding member connected to the support part at a position overlapping with the insertion port, which holds the subject and includes a recess 109a where subject side matching liquid is stored a liquid tank that can store probe side matching liquid to a liquid level that it is acoustically connected at least with the holding member 109 and a probe 103 disposed in the liquid tank so as to come in contact with the probe side matching liquid, which receives an acoustic wave propagating from the subject through the holding member and the probe side matching liquid, and converts it into an electric signal.
