The invention relates to oxovanadium (IV) compounds, to a process for preparing the same and to their glycemia-reducing effect useful in the treatment of diabetes. According to the invention, the product is an oxovanadium (IV) compound with a flavanone derivative (hesperetin or naringenin, respectively) of the general formula VOL.nHO (L: hesperetin n=4 L:naringenin n=5). The claimed process consists in dissolving the ligand in water, in the presence of solid NaOH (pH=8), admixing VOSOin a ligand : metallic ion ratio of 2:1, correcting the pH value of the solution with HSOup to the formation of a light green precipitate, stirring the reaction mixture for 30 min at the ambient temperature, filtering the precipitate under vacuum, washing it with distilled water, methanol and ethanol and drying the precipitate by storing it at the ambient temperature.Prezenta invenţie se referă la compuşi de oxovanadiu (IV), la un procedeu de obţinere şi la acţiunea acestora de scădere a glicemiei, utilă în tratamentul diabetului. Produsul conform invenţiei este reprezentat de un compus de oxovanadiu (IV) cu derivat de flavanonă (hesperetină, respectiv, naringenină) cu formula generală VOL.nHO (L: hesperetină n = 4 L: naringenină n = 5). Procedeul conform invenţiei presupune dizolvarea ligandului în apă, în prezenţa NaOH solid (pH = 8), adăugare VOSOîn raport molar ligand:ion metalic de 2:1, corectarea pH-ului soluţiei cu HSOpână la obţinerea unui precipitat de culoare verde deschis, agitarea amestecului de reacţie timp de 30 min la temperatura camerei, filtrarea precipitatului la vid, spălare cu apă distiliată, metanol şi etanol, şi uscarea precipitatului prin păstrare la temperatura camerei.
