The present disclosure relates to an oral care composition comprising hydroxyapatite, a polycarboxylic compound, soluble calcium and an orally acceptable carrier, an aqueous mixture comprising hydroxyapatite, a polycarboxylic compound and soluble calcium and use thereof for relieving or preventing tooth sensitivity. The present disclosure discovers that the hydroxyapatite in the oral care composition can not only block the opening of the dentinal tubules, but also infiltrate into the dentinal tubules to a depth of tens of microns. The oral care composition can be prepared by mixing the aqueous mixture with the orally acceptable carrier.
