PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new insect pest repellent which is high in safety also on human health and exhibits a stable insect pest-repelling action sustaining for a long time, to provide an insect pest-repelling resin composition which can practically be added to a resin or a coating and then used, is proper in a speed for oozing out on a surface exhibiting an insect pest-repelling action, and can exhibit the excellent repelling effect for a long time, and to provide a method for repelling insect pests.SOLUTION: Provided is the insect pest repellent, such as a coating agent or a spraying agent, containing at least one itaconic acid-based compound selected from the group consisting of itaconic acid, itaconic anhydride, citraconic anhydride and polyitaconic acid as an active ingredient. The insect pest repellent is coated on an object so that the itaconic acid or the like is adhered to the object in concentration of 0.1 to 1.0 g/m2. Provided is a resin composition containing the itaconic acid or the like in an amount of 0.1 to 10 wt.%. The prescribed itaconic acid-based compound is added as the active ingredient to provide the insect pest repellent which is high in safety and has a high repelling rate against insect pests such as cockroach.COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT【課題】ヒトの健康上にも安全性の高い害虫忌避剤であって、長時間持続する安定した害虫忌避作用が発揮される新規な害虫忌避剤であると共に、実用的に樹脂や塗料に混入させて使用することも可能であり、かつその際に害虫に忌避作用を発揮する表面への滲み出し速度が適当にあり、優れた忌避効果を長時間発揮できる害虫忌避性樹脂組成物および害虫忌避方法を提供することである。【解決手段】イタコン酸、イタコン酸無水物、シトラコン酸無水物およびポリイタコン酸からなる群から選ばれる一種以上のイタコン酸系化合物を有効成分として含有してなる塗布剤または噴霧剤などの害虫忌避剤とし、イタコン酸等を0.1~1.0g/m2の濃度で付着するよう対象物に塗布する。または、イタコン酸等を0.1~10重量%含有する樹脂組成物とする。所定のイタコン酸系化合物を有効成分として含有することにより、安全性が高く、しかもゴキブリなどの害虫に対して忌避率の高い害虫忌避剤になる。【選択図】なし
