The present invention provides compositions for inhibiting the activity of an insect pest against a subject (or repelling an insect pest from an environment or preventing attraction to an environment) which compositions comprise geranylacetone as an active ingredient plus a carrier plus a further active ingredient selected from the list consisting of: 6-Methyl-hepten-2-one, octanal, plus optional other chemicals.
