PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tea leaf excellent in an extraction efficiency of tannin and a production method of the tea leaf.SOLUTION: A tea leaf is subjected to a steaming step and a primary drying step, and then is pressed to an extrusion plate on which plural holes of 452.16 mm2 or more are formed and cut. A production method of the tea leaf comprises a step for pressing the raw material tea leaf which has been subjected to the steaming step and the primary drying step to the extrusion plate on which plural holes of 452.16 mm2 or more are formed, and cutting the raw material tea leaf. A lower limit of an area of each hole is equal to or more than 615.44 mm2 preferably, and equal to or more than 706.5 mm2 more preferably.
