Disclosed is a reproductive status indication system for generating an indication of a female bovine&rsquos reproductive status. The system includes an electronic sensing device for locating on a bovine. The device includes a detection assembly (78) that is adapted to detect reproductive activity or absence of activity associated with the bovine and to produce reproductive activity data relating to the reproductive activity. Also included is a data processing system (60) configured to receive reproductive activity data and analyse the reproductive activity data with respect to at least one predetermined reproductive activity threshold and at least one predetermined time threshold. The processing system (60) then determines the bovine&rsquos reproductive status based on the analysis of the reproductive activity data. The reproductive status indication system then provides a visual indication of whether or not the bovine is pregnant after the bovine has undergone a breeding event. The visual indication is provided at or subsequent to the time at which the bovine is next expected to be in oestrus if she does not conceive. The visual indication provided is based on the determination produced by the data processing system (60).
