A disc coulter assembly comprises a first disc and a second disc, the first disc 15 having a larger diameter than the second disc 18, the first and second discs being arranged such that the centre of rotation of the first disc is above and in front (in direction of travel) of the centre of rotation of the second disc. The lower edge of the second disc is situated above the lower edge of the first disc, the first and second discs are each being inclined to a vertical axis and to a longitudinal axis of the disc coulter assembly. The front edge of the second disc contacts the inner surface of the first disc in the forward lower quartile of the said discs. The disc coulter may be followed by a press wheel 24 and may form part of a drill row unit or seed drill.
