Method of modulating sebaceous functions is disclosed. The method comprises administering to a subject in need thereof a means for inhibiting and/or reducing expression of galectin-12 in the cells of the subject, and thereby modulating the sebaceous functions in the subject. Also disclosed is a means used for inhibiting and/or reducing expression of galectin-12 in the cells of a subject, and thereby modulating the sebaceous functions in the subject.
