The insect trap 10 for insects such as mosquitoes includes a first container 12 for containing liquid 40. The first container 12 defines an interior 16 and a fill/dispense opening 32 for filling or dispensing the liquid 40 to and from the interior 16. The first container 12 further defines an insect access opening 18 permitting insects access to the interior 16. The insect trap 10 may have a second container 14 located within the first container 12 where the second container 14 may act as to funnel insects into a trap chamber 20. The two containers 12, 14 may be detachably connected and the second container 12 may pass through the insect access opening 18 of the first container 12 when assembled. Also disclosed are methods for manufacture and use of the insect trap assembly 10, an illumination device 52 including a cap to be fitted to a drinks bottle, and methods of use for the illumination device 52.
